About Us

About the Founder

Anyone who has ever met Charlie can tell you that he is the very definition of a Blue Soul. Charlie started this company in 2005 as a way to share his passion for the ocean full time. Just a big kid at heart, his excitement is contagious. Now he and his team of State Champion Canoe Paddlers, Spear fishermen, Lewis and Clarks and Certified Lifeguards are dedicated to bringing out the fish in you.

It’s Not Easy Being Green

“We are privileged to share our unique ocean culture with you and huge part of that culture is preservation. At Blue Soul we practice ECO Tourism. Our love of the ocean and respect for the ‘aina is what created this company and our success means we give back what we take. Our canoes are powered by you; there are no anchors to drop, sewage to dump or gas to emit. Trash seen on our hikes is removed, regardless of who put it there. ”

“In addition to protecting Maui’s reefs by removing debris and litter,  our latest program has proven that saving the environment can be a lot of fun. Once a month, Blue Soul employees take a spearfishing trip aimed solely at hunting an invasive fish called Roi. An average-sized Roi is estimated to consume approximately 146 of our indigenous species of reef fish per year. Removing just one Roi per day, could save up to 53,290 reef fish a year.”

All proceeds from our Recreational Paddling Program directly benefit the Wailea Canoe Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to passing down the ancient tradition of Outrigger Canoe Racing to Hawaii’s keiki and kama’aina.
